Welcome to Green Energy Ireland
Green Energy Ireland was formed by Mark Rael (Mark Rael Electrical) and Ian O’Sullivan (Ian O’Sullivan Building Services & O’Sullivan Bathroom Renovations) who have over 25 years’ combined experience in the electrical and general construction industry.
Our company’s mission is very clear – We want to provide all our clients with the best “Green Energy” solutions for their home, farm or business using the latest technology and best quality products on the market.
We aim to spend as much time as is required with every client to really understand their needs and requirements for that specific project. This is achieved by carrying out as many site visits as is required and providing each client with a detailed breakdown of all the works and materials that are required for their project.
Solar PV
Protect yourself from rising energy costs by generating your own green electricity with solar panels. Combine this with home battery storage and achieve even greater independence from the Grid. More of our customers have already or are considering switching to an electric vehicle, so investing in an EV charger makes sense to future proof your home.
Solar panels for home use convert sunlight into electricity that can be used to power the home. They are typically made of photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into electricity. A typical home solar panel system includes solar panels, an inverter to convert the direct current (DC) electricity produced by the panels into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be used in the home, and a monitoring system to track the system’s performance. The cost of a solar panel system can vary depending on the size of the system and the location, but it can be a cost-effective way to generate electricity and reduce energy costs over time.
Any electricity generated but not used will be sent back to the National Grid or collected by battery storage units to use later
We supply and install the industry’s top brands for our panels and inverters. Panels like Longi, Recom, Jinko, Peimar etc and inverters like Solis, Sma and Huawei

Benefits of Solar Panels for your home
Cost savings: Solar panels can significantly reduce or even eliminate your electricity bills, especially if you generate enough electricity to cover all of your needs. With a solar panel system, you can produce your own electricity and reduce your dependence on the power grid
Environmentally friendly: Solar energy is a clean and renewable energy source that doesn’t produce any harmful emissions or pollutants.
Low maintenance: Solar panels require very little maintenance, and once installed, they can last for several decades.
Increased property value: Homes with solar panels can be more valuable, as they are more energy-efficient and can save the homeowner money on energy costs and increase BER rating.
Energy security: Solar energy is a domestic energy source that reduces the dependence on foreign oil and gas.
Grants and Savings
- Solar PV grant max of €1800
- Tams grant up to 60%
- Vat at 0% from may 1st 2023
- ESB suppliers allow credit for excess electricity usually on average about 50% of unit rate
EV Chargers
Whether you are looking for an Electric Vehicle (EV) charger for your home, your workplace or business to enable customers to charge their vehicle. We can offer a solution for you.
With electric cars becoming increasingly more prevalent, more and more people are seeking the convenience and speed of charging cars in the home or work.
Grants are available
Making the switch to an electric vehicle is one of the best things you can do for the planet! So, there are grants available from the government of €300 towards your installation.
We install Zappi chargers and The Zappi EV Charging unit is compatible with nearly all electric vehicles and can be easily installed at your home or work place. Zappi is one of the most eco-friendly electric car chargers on the market and can give you complete control of your electric car charging experience. Paired with the myenergi app, you can set timers to utilise economy tariffs, use the boost function, monitor your devices. With the Zappi you can connect up all myenergi devices onto one app from PV system to hot water to car charger etc.

Types of different Electric Charging Points
Tethered charge point
A tethered electric charging point comes with a long cable attached to the unit and allows you to connect to either a type 1 or type 2 connector. The major benefit of a tethered charging unit is that you can plug straight into the car but are limited on the connector type.
The majority of electric vehicles manufactured in the UK come with a type 2 connector but it is always best to check. We will talk through all the options available with you to ensure you get the correct charging point.
Socketed charge point
A socketed electric charging point does not come with a cable. They are fitted with all the correct safety devices so that you, your car and home are protected. The benefit of a socketed charge point is that it is universal and can be used with any charger.
This helps when choosing your vehicle as you can accommodate all electric vehicles so if you decide to change your car you are not limited on the connector. We will talk through all of the options available with you to ensure you get the correct charging point.
Heat Pumps
We install new systems
What Is an Air Source Heat Pump?
An air source heat pump (ASHP) works by transferring heat absorbed from the outside air to an indoor space. This works via the wet central heating systems to heat radiators and provides domestic hot water. Heat pumps work similarly to a refrigerator: they absorb heat and transfer it to another medium.
Certain air source heat pumps can also work as a cooling system in the summer months. Most commonly they are placed outside of a building where there is adequate space for the installation.
There are two main types of air source heat pumps:
Air to air heat pumps, which absorb heat from the outside air and then transfer it directly into your home via a fan system to heat a room.
Air to water heat pumps, which absorb heat from the outside air and then transfer it via your central heating system to provide hot water heating, radiator, or underfloor heating in an indoor space (or all three).
Before making the switch, consider our recommended manufacturers .

Air to Water Heat Pump
Daikin Ireland / UK is a market leader in environmentally responsible renewable energy heat pumps, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Daikin provide energy efficient integrated climate control solutions for applications in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. Daikin’s national network of regional teams partner with corporate clients, developers, specifiers and trade suppliers to provide innovative and cost effective HVAC solutions. Daikin aims to offer the very highest standard of aftersales services including warranty, maintenance and troubleshooting.
A heat pump uses the same principle as a fridge but only in reverse. It represents a flexible and cost-effective alternative to the traditional oil boiler.

Air Source Heat Pumps
With a growing focus on sustainability, carbon reduction, and reducing environmental impact, incorporating renewable energy sources like an air to water air source heat pump, into a home’s heating design is important and can help to future-proof the home.
The Grant inverter drive air to water air source heat pump range is available in outputs of 6kW, 10kW, 13kW & 17kW.
The air source heat pump range achieves high SCOP’s and is sustainable at low temperatures. Our range is amongst the most efficient air to water heat pumps in Ireland and is easy to install with its compact size, has an ERP of A+++ and uses R32 refrigerant.
The Grant Aerona heat pump offers cleaner, more environmentally friendly performance and can lower a property’s overall carbon footprint, whilst helping to achieve required building standards.
The Grant Aerona³ R32 13kW and 17kW models have also been recognised by Quiet Mark for their quiet operation. Quiet Mark is the international award programme validating and awarding low-noise, high-performance technologies, helping to deliver solutions to overcome noise pollution throughout the world.
